EFSUPS – Exploring the Ground – Fostering Scientific Understanding in Primary Schools (2006-2008)

The EFSUPS project aimed at developing and testing science related components for primary school education, which promote the scientific understanding of children in the basic school age and enlarge their skills. The project’s outcome is a collection of teaching material (toolbox) for kids at the age of 5 to 8 years on the topic of soil. Read more

TRAMS – Training and mentoring of Science Shops (2005-2008)

TRAMS aimed to encourage the development of emergent Science Shops through the provision of training and mentoring support as well as to support the ongoing professional development of existing Science Shops and similar organisations. Final Report

ISSNET – Improving Science Shop Networking (2003-2005)

ISSNET established a new vibrant and sustainable International Science Shop Network. The project focused on activities that optimise the exchange of content and ideas in the science, society and governance debate, and improved public access to, and awareness of science. Read more

SiS.net – Network of National Contact Points for Science with and for Society in Horizon 2020

The SiS.net project is a network of National Contact Points (NCPs) for the Science with and for Society programme of Horizon 2020. It aims to share best practices among NCPs in order to improve the operation of each Science with and for Society NCP so they will be better equipped to provide more effective and better quality services to organisations participating in Horizon 2020 all over Europe and beyond. DITOs – Doing It Together Science (2016-2019)

The project aims to build the institutional and policy foundations for sustained deep public engagement in science and technology in Europe. DITOs will implement many innovative participatory event formats across Europe advancing the EU Responsible Research and Innovation agenda by moving beyond more traditional approaches into direct engagement that builds upon DIY, grassroots, and frugal innovation initiatives. Big Picnic: Big Questions – Engaging the public with Responsible Research and Innovation on Food Security (2016-2019)

The project will encourage collaboration and conversation to build public understanding of food security issues and enable adults and young people to articulate their views to decision makers. It will work with the public to design fifteen travelling exhibitions about food security accompanied by around 90 Science Cafés. The information gathered will be reported back to policy makers and scientists to encourage Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). Read more

CIMULACT: Engaging all of Europe in shaping a desirable and sustainable future (2015-2018)

CIMULACT (Citizen and Multi-Actor Consultation on Horizon 2020) aims to engage citizens and stakeholders in the co-creation of European research agendas based on real, validated and shared visions, needs and demands. The project will establish and improve a genuine dialogue between citizens, stakeholders, scientists, and policymakers where visions and scenarios for desirable and sustainable futures can be developed, debated and transformed into recommendations and suggestions for research and innovation policies and topics. Sparks (2015-2018)

Sparks is a project to engage European citizens with the concept and practice of Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI). A travelling exhibition called “Beyond the lab: the DIY science revolution” tells the stories of so-called ‘DIY scientists’ who are experimenting, researching and even inventing – often hand in hand with professional researchers – and hereby contribute to better scientific solutions in line with actual needs of people. The exhibition is accompanied by numerous participatory activities in the 29 European countries where it will be shown. Read more

FoTRRIS – Fostering a Transition towards Responsible Research and Innovation Systems (2015-2018)

FoTRRIS aims to foster a transition of the existing Research & Innovation (R&I) system to a Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) system. The project’s objective is to offer efficient and effective methods for researchers, citizens, businesses and policy-makers to solve ‘glocal’ challenges in a co-RRI way. Read more

RRI Tools aims to empower all actors to contribute their share to the Responsible Research and Innovation initiative of the European Union. The final outcome of RRI Tools is to develop a set of digital resources to advocate, train, disseminate and implement RRI under Horizon 2020. Read more

Engage2020 aimed to increase the use of engagement methods and policies by mapping what is practiced and spreading awareness of the opportunities amongst researchers, policy makers and other interested parties. Read more

INTERACTS – Improving Interaction between NGOs, Universities and Science Shops (2001-2003)

INTERACTS aimed at improving cooperation in science, research and development between small to medium sized NGOs and universities through intermediaries such as Science Shops. The objective was to strengthen the interaction between research institutions and society. Read more
